Gastroenterology – Diseases of Gastrointestinal Tract (GIT)

Why Penoxal and gastrointestinal diseases

Today’s unhealthy lifestyle and poor dietwith low-quality food containing many additives start creating a negative impact on human bodies. They are causes of the weak immune system, obesity and other diseases of civilisation (high cholesterol, hypertension, diabetes) as well as more frequently occurring problems with digestion. Many problems with digestion may be prevented by choosing high quality food; also the immune system is influenced by the food eaten, and largely, (up to 70%) it is a reflection of our digestion. Years of unhealthy dieting lead to the food remains on walls of the gut that subsequently cannot function appropriately, and so we are faced with various digestive disorders.

The human body is a very sophisticated system which defends itself from damage. Digestive system is one of the most important gateways for substances essential to the body. However, apart from many essential nutrients the food can contain even various pathogens and toxic substances. These are identified in the small intestine which includes specific cells and lymphatic tissues (i.e. Peyer’s patches) that significantly contribute to the body’s immunity and affect the functioning of the entire gut. This component of a so called mucosal immunity contains B-lymphocytes, T-lymphocytes and it produces antibodies (i.e. immunoglobulins) that are involved in destruction of unwanted substances;by doing so they prevent damage to the body. The damage to Peyer’s patches that are important for immunity is usually caused by poor diet leading toexcess acidity, an imbalance between beneficial and harmful intestinal bacteria, inflammation or the use of antibiotics. Compromised intestinal immunity leads to the penetration of unwanted substances into the blood, which subsequently causes an immune deficiency and the onset of various disorders. A healthy gut is thus essential for the strong and fight-capable immunity, so it deserves a regular care. Unfortunately, we only give attention to our digestive system when a problem appears – we suffer from heartburn, feeling of full and heavy stomach, constipation, diarrhoea, bloating, or pain.

Apart from its important role as the body’s defence the gut is the largest organ in the body, so its damage or diseases cause big problems that affect the entire body. Intestinal microflora contains about 1014 bacteria; this is considerably more than there are cells in the human body!In order for everything to work as it should and the immune system to be strong enough to fight infections, it is important to give a good care to the digestive system.

Do not underestimate importance of the immune system

A very important element in the treatment of many diseases is well-functioning immune system, and its strength and resistance are affected by our lifestyle. Immune system is a vital component for the human body, which enables it to live in an unsterile environment, to fight microorganisms, and to defend itself from potential diseases. However, today’s rapid pace of life, excess stress, unhealthy diet, a lack of exercise and environmental pollution all make our immune system weak. A weak body is more susceptible to many diseases. Each disease presents a great burden for the body. Unfortunately, nowadays we try to solve many diseases by chemical means, in a form of medications, and we rely on them to be healthy. Moreover, doctors are pressed for time and almost always fail to find the root of problems; they recommend medications that at best resolve the symptoms. A cause may be the weak immune system or prolonged inflammation, remaining viruses, parasites, heavy metals, fungi, etc. Then diseases and trouble return in various forms, sometimes they even develop into chronic conditions. It is thus important to consider a change in our approach to lifestyle and to boost immunity – by a healthy diet, adequate fluid intake, regular and sufficient exercise and if required, by high quality natural food supplements. Detoxification methods are suitable too; they remove toxic heavy metals, fungi and other undesirable and harmful substances from the body. It is safer and more convenient to prevent diseases and to care for the immune system. We live in a highly polluted environment which affects us, and the food despite the best choice often fails to contain all the essentials we need.
